When it comes to swimming classes the person seeking to compare swim classes may not know what they are shopping for.
For instance if you do not know how to swim, how would you know the difference and be able to shop for swim classes with out some help.
Let Aquaskills explain to you why we are cost effective, as opposed to thinking we are expensive.
When you come to a "PRIVATE" swim class with Aquaskills you will be give an "ENTIRE" dedicated hour to you and you alone with one of our highly experienced teachers. We do not put you in a large class with other people so you really will not learn. We do conduct semi-private classes with a very low student to teacher ratio that are also effective.
A  key question when comparing is "How many people will be in the class, as well as how long is each class?"and do not forget to ask "Do I need to buy a membership?"
Our classes are longer than other swim school and we also offer free practice after class "space permitting"  without practice it would be next to
impossible physiologically to learn anything athletic in a half hour even if you do take 10 sessions.
 
 So Back to Aquaskills being Expensive? I DO NOT THINK SO. Our 10 one hour long sessions  
This is how you learn any new skill. The muscle memory is a scientific term and it means that the movements must be absorbed in one's brain to the subconscious level so that your movements are memorized. When a student repeats his/her session's learning objectives for that specific class, the movements become a reflex action that no longer requires conscious thinking.
After your swim course is completed and you are on your way as a new swimmer, still always be aware of your safety when swimming in new places. Ocean swimming is completely different and please speak to a lifeguard on duty to find out about the ocean's under tow or currents for that day or the next few hows. When going lake swimming/ beware of rocks and speak to someone that has been in that lake before.
One more thing. BEWARE of positive reviews on YELP . The Yelp reviews can be done by company owners friends or small fan base. I would proceed with caution when I read " WOW , I CAN not believe that I learned SO much in 1/2 HOUR! I am a swimmer NOW! THE classes were in expensive etc. So if the school is under cutting our prices...let me tell you, he may evaporate, and not know his numbers to stay in business or his/her threshold. At any rate we are the best. This articles is for adults..children under the age of 5 are excellent in our 1.2 hour classes.
 
 

bird I personally love before NOON....Why Early Bird Swim Classes are so super healthy before you go to work. For one after a nights sleep the body's muscles are relaxed...working the muscles first thing in the morning are equal  to 3-5 X the workload as working out in the evening. So there a bigger bang for the effort,a more effective work-out. Your mental acuity will be boosted up so you will have a better work performance throughout the day.

We teach people at all levels with different goals. All classes are one hour long. After you Learn your new skills you will have  a method to call upon instead of loosing control and panicking. Instructors must be fun, upbeat, and bring humor, and confidence to the situation and speak clearly and be optimistic.
Instructor must be careful to scale back and take baby steps.

So After technique/ we work on building endurance

A students want to learn how to control the water/balance/ and breathing right away to disprove the idea of being consumed by the water.
Reflex Actions/ Stand up from the front/sit up from a back float
We explain the water's Resistance - Show the purpose of resistance  and explain propulsion...Newton's Law of "For Every action there is a reaction".

The idea is to create Propulsion to push the core of the body  forward by the proper resistance created with correct pulls of hands and arms.

Soft relaxed joints  Our instructors teach by demonstration and Show example of arms/ legs/knees- No locking of joints- Show examples of locked joints and unlocked joints-No stiff legs or arms
the Arm as a paddle from elbow to tip of middle finger with no breaking of the plain at the wrist.
Relax shoulders. Explain Depressed shoulders show the difference/ show how to relax the shoulders-
Work on a prone float face down and streamlining and total  alignment holding the breath-as you enter into a prone glide.
Slicing the water with feel and stiff ankles/ vs relaxed ankles/ show this-lead to a sinking set of circumstances

using the bottom of the foot “ The plantar” to push downward in the water
using the top of the foot the dorsal to kick the water upward to the surface and kick from the hip. Not to break the skin of the water on each alternate kick-but to boil the water with the heal breajking the surface of the water.

Our Staff

AquaSkill's instructors are mature, dedicated and highly skilled at teaching. Aquaskills methods are an integration of the skills of Adrian Ginju, a former member of the Romanian Olympic Swim Team, and Lori Pailet, a certified AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association) specialist, and our head instructor’s background as an All City Swimmer for the City of Los Angeles. All of of the swim instructors at AquaSkills are American Red Cross certified lifeguards, CPR, AED and First Aid.
